To help celebrate his 5-year tenure at AMI, George Worthington, our lead developer, sat down with Comms Manager Ronnie, to have a casual chat about his five-year journey at AMI. From the highs of coding complex websites to the everyday challenges of leading development projects; George’s time here has been nothing short of impressive. The boys settle down in the comfy chairs to “chew the fat” on this milestone, and for us all to learn a little more about George’s life outside of AMI.

What’s the most memorable moment from your time here?
One of the memorable AMI “nights out” was when the MD (Craig) took us to a local restaurant. Many of us ordered a Steak Fondue, which was quite the challenge to finish, and the evening continued with drinks and a few rounds of shuffleboard.

If you could describe your 5 years at AMI in three words, what would they be?
Insightful, challenging, transformative.

Which project or achievement are you proudest of from the last 5 years?
Launching the template websites and getting them up and running has been my biggest achievement at AMI. It’s rewarding to see them being utilised by a diverse range of clients across various manufacturing sectors.

What’s one hobby or interest you’ve picked up outside of work in the last five years?
I played basketball and competed from a young age but took a break in my early 20s. Recently, I’ve started playing again and am now in my second season with the North Devon Men’s Squad.

If you could travel anywhere tomorrow, where would you go and why?
I would most likely take my family to Mexico. I had an incredible holiday there with my fiancé before we started our family, and I’d love for my kids to experience the places we visited.

What’s your go-to activity for unwinding after a busy week?
I enjoy the local beaches or countryside—it’s nice to take a break from screen time every now and then!

If you could invite any three people (living or dead) to a dinner party, who would they be?
Tommy Cooper, Salvador Dali, Kobe Bryant.

What’s a hidden talent or skill you have that most of us wouldn’t know about?
I have a degree in Fine Art and am experienced in oil painting, though I might be a little rusty at the moment.

If you could relive any moment from the past five years (work or personal), what would it be?
It’s tough to pick a single moment from the past five years because I’ve had so many amazing memories with my family. One standout was hosting a big family Christmas at my house with about 16 people, where I took on the responsibility of cooking for everyone. Another unforgettable memory was taking my family on holiday, which was my daughter’s first time abroad – everything about it was perfect. If I HAD to pick one it would be the family holiday!

What’s your favourite way to spend a Sunday afternoon?
If the weather allows, a walk on one of our local beaches with the family in the autumn months, followed by a nice roast dinner.

Thank you, George. We loved the last 5 years and look forward to many, many more! Congratulations on reaching this milestone! See you at the coffee machine 🙂
